The third Gyan Sanskar Inter-School National Skate Competition, organized by Gyan Sanskar School and coordinated by the Nepal Skating and Skate Boarding Association, is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
About 300 players from various schools across the country will participate in the competition, said Neelam Baniya Badu, principal of Gyan Sanskar, at a press conference on Wednesday.
The principal said that skating is an eco-friendly sport and that it can be used as an alternative means of general transportation in the future by making it environmentally friendly. She expressed her belief that skating will contribute positively to the development of physical health, discipline and confidence as well as environmental protection.
Satya Thapa, general secretary of the Nepal Skating and Skate Boarding Association, said that the competition will be held in 6 categories for boys and girls. The competition will be held in the age groups of under 6 years, 6-8, 8-10, 10-12, 12-14 and 14-16 years.
It is said that the players who perform best in the competition will be given the opportunity to participate in the international competition. The one-day competition will be organized by Gyan Sanskar.
Meanwhile, the Skating Association honored the medal winners and participating players of the International Skating Competition held in the Maldives from September 4 to 6.
Bronze medalist Prisha Khand, along with participants Rose Badu, June Badu, Kashvi Bhattarai, Simran Bhusal and Giana Aryal, were honored. All the honorees are studying at Gyan Sanskar.
Skating and Skate Boarding Association General Secretary Thapa presented the players with a token of love and Principal Badu presented a gift hamper.
