Nepal Police School and Sainik Mahavidyalaya have entered the finals of the 31st Inter-Secondary School IGP Football Running Trophy competition being organized by Nepal Police School Sanga Kavrepalanchok.

In the first semi-final match played on Sunday, Sainik College defeated Peace Point School by a margin of 4-2 in a tiebreaker. The match was pushed to a tiebreaker after neither team could score in the scheduled 80 minutes. In the tiebreaker, Sainik's keeper saved two penalties from Peace Point and secured a place in the team's final. Sainik's goalkeeper Alin Tamang was declared the player of the match.

Nepal Police School 'Rato' won the second semi-final match between the host Nepal Police School 'Rato' and another team from the Police, Nepal Police School Dharan, by a margin of 2-0, securing a place in the final for the second consecutive year. Manish Banrait of Police Rato was declared the player of the match.

The final match of the tournament will be held on Friday, Poush 4, at the sports ground of Nepal Police School Sanga in the presence of IGP of Nepal Police Dan Bahadur Karki.

15 teams from 14 schools participated in the competition that started on Mangsir 17. Two teams from the host Nepal Police School, along with other schools of Nepal Police (Samakhusi, Dharan and Chitwan), and various prestigious schools from Kavre and Kathmandu Valley participated in the competition. The teams that secured the first, second and third positions in the competition, which was conducted on a league-cum-knockout basis, will win cash prizes of Rs. 60,000, Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 20,000 respectively, along with trophies, medals and certificates. In addition, special awards will be given to the best players in the individual category.
