The 12th SRAM National MTB Downhill and 20th Cross-Country MTB Cycling Competition is scheduled to be held in the first week of December.
The Nepal National Mountain Bike Championship is being organized by the Nepal Cycling Association in the capital. The association held a press conference on Monday and said that the competition will be held at the Martyrs' Memorial Park in Gokarneshwor Municipality-4.
Race Director Devendra Basnet informed that the competition to be held on Poush 4 and 5 will be held in two categories, downhill and cross-country. There will be competition for 30 medals in five events, namely men's elite (19 to 30 years) and women's elite, junior (17 and 18 years of age), masters (above 30 years) and youth (14 to 16 years of age).
50 players will compete in downhill and cross-country. There will be competition in four categories, namely masters and junior, for women and men in both categories.
The 13th South Asian Games was also held in Kars. The association stated that Gokarna Municipality has supported the construction of the course for this competition. Association President Sudip Poudel informed that the track has already been prepared for biking and hiking. According to him, each player has also been insured.
The association has stated that SRAM operator and chief cycling coach Prayas Tamang has contributed one lakh rupees for this competition. Gokarna Municipality Mayor Deepak Kumar Risal announced at a press conference that he would contribute five lakh rupees for the prize.
National Martyrs and Peace Park Civil Memorial Extension Board Chairman Sudarshan Sigdel, Cycling Association Senior Vice President and Nepali Chulo Managing Director Sangharsh Bista, among others, spoke about the competition.
Association General Secretary Ranjan Rajbhandari informed that the winner of this competition will get a ranking as ranking is required for international competitions.
