Eden Bridge Academy (EBA) and Newton advanced to the quarterfinals of the 19th Valley Public Cup Interschool Basketball Tournament in the junior boys category on Friday.
EBA defeated Ferryland by a score of 30-21. Digvijay Puri scored 13 in EBA's victory. Newton defeated Odyssey Academy by 31-22 with Divas Magar's 16 points.
In the junior boys' section of the tournament organized by Valley Public, Greenfield National defeated SEB by 19-16 to secure a place in the quarterfinals.
In the senior boys' section, JB School defeated Herald by 31-26, TIA defeated Kingdom by 43-35 and Genius World defeated Dr. Memorial by 53-38 to secure a place in the quarterfinals. Naresh Bohra of JB scored 15, Roshan Nagarkoti of TIA scored 22 and Rajiv of Genius scored 18.
In the senior girls' category, Newton defeated JB 29-18, Samten defeated SEB 25-13, and KVKSS defeated Himshila 29-12 to advance to the quarterfinals. Newton's Irini Rana scored 11, Samten's Anusha Tamang scored 7, and KVKSS' Khushi Mitok scored 11.
