The second Whitefield Inter-School Taekwondo Championship, which includes two disciplines, is scheduled to be held on Saturday.
With the aim of encouraging young talent, Whitefield Secondary School is going to hold a one-day Taekwondo Championship on Mangsir 12. More than 600 student athletes from about 15 schools will compete. At a press conference, Whitefield Vice Principal Barsha Shrestha said that such a competition will increase the confidence of the students and develop their abilities.
Kumar Lama Ghising, head of the Whitefield Taekwondo Dojang, said that there will be two categories of competition, Gyorogi (fight) and Speed Kick. There will be competition in three belt groups in Speed Kick. In Gyorogi, there will be competition in a total of 80 weight groups for girls and boys, including Kids, Children, Cadet and Junior. There will be 10 weight groups for girls and boys, said Rammani Bagale of Whitefield.
Along with academic activities, Whitefield is getting students involved in various fields such as sports, arts and entertainment. The best fighters in all four categories of Gyorogi will receive trophies.
