Bhaktapur Modern English School has emerged as the winner of the Kathmandu Valley-wide selection for the NKL NextGen Inter-School Kabaddi Championship.
Modern defeated Old Guheshwari Secondary School by a score of 56-50. Bhaktapur Modern secured a place in the NKL Inter-School Kabaddi Championship after emerging victorious in the two-day qualifiers held at Midvalley School, Thimi.
Out of eight schools competing, Modern defeated Kathmandu International 69-12 and Pawan Prakriti School 61-20 in the semi-finals.
Old Guheshwari defeated Secret Heart 56-19 in the first match and Bhimeshwor Academy 62-60 in the semi-finals. Kathmandu International, Secret Heart, Mid Valley and Shree Lubhu Secondary were eliminated from the qualifiers after losing their first matches. In the qualifiers, Old Guheshwari's twins Ram Rana Magar and Laxman Rana Magar won the Best Raider and Best Defender awards.
A total of 6 teams, including the winners of the regional qualifiers held in Pokhara, Biratnagar, Butwal, Dhangadhi and Janakpur, will compete in the finals of the NKL NextGen Inter-School Kabaddi Championship, organized by Astronics Management, the organizer of KB Sam Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL), with the aim of producing and developing kabaddi players in the country. The championship will be held on the occasion of NKL Season 2, according to the organizer, Astronics Management.
