Laligurans wins Tarkeshwor Mayor's Running Shield

The Running Shield competition was started by Krishnahari Maharjan, the mayor of Tarakeshwor Municipality, in 2079 BS. The winner was awarded by Maharjan, the mayor.

Laligurans have won the shield with 32 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals in the fourth Mayor Running Shield Sports Competition organized by Tarakeswar Municipality. Laligurans have won the title for the third time in a row.

In 2079 BS, the Mayor of Tarakeswar Municipality, Krishnahari Maharjan, started the Running Shield competition. The winner was awarded by the Mayor Maharjan.

2,686 students from 64 schools of Tarakeswar participated for a total of 78 gold medals. Laligurans has captured the trophy with 1 lakh rupees.

Himarshmi School has secured the second place with 10 gold medals, 19 silver medals and 13 bronze medals. The school received 60 thousand rupees. Kinder Garden School came third with 5 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 1 bronze medals and received  40 thousand rupees.

Angels Heart Secondary has secured the consolation place with 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals and 2 bronze medals. Angels Heart received 20 thousand rupees.

Similarly, Mansingh Dharma Secondary School of Tarakeswar came first with 3 gold medals, 5 silver medals and 1 bronze medals. Gramsewa Secondary School came second with 3 gold medals, 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals, and Manmaiju Secondary School came third with 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 9 bronze medals. Only 9 schools won medals in the competition in which 16 community schools of Tarakeswar participated.

The fourth Mayor Running Shield included 11 games with the slogan ‘Sports of Tarakeswar: Message of Unity’.

The competition, which was attended only by students under the age of 18 studying in community and institutional schools of Tarakeswar, included 11 games including football, basketball, table tennis, badminton, karate, wushu, taekwondo, and chess. This time, chess was also added to the competition. Rajendra Prasad Timilsina, coordinator of the management committee, said that chess is an intellectual game and that it has been included from this year.

Mayor Krishnahari Maharjan said that the competition has created history in sports in Tarakeswar and announced that sports teachers will be arranged in Tarakeswar community schools.
