Phungling captured the title by defeating Meringden Rural Municipality by a 4-3 goal margin in a trybreaker in the final match held on Saturday at the Bhanujan Secondary School grounds in the district headquarters Phungling.

Phungling Municipality has won the title of the Kanchenjunga Seselung Women's Gold Cup Football Tournament.

In the final match held on Saturday at Bhanujan Secondary School in the district headquarters of Phungling, Phungling defeated Meringden Rural Municipality by a 4-3 goal margin in a trybreaker. The winner Phungling received 202,000 rupees in cash, while the runner-up Meringden had to settle for 102,000 rupees. 

Both municipalities scored 1/1 in the stipulated time. In the 13th minute of the match, Kumari Gurung scored the first goal for Phungling. Gurung, the former captain of Nepal Police Club, scored the goal using a pass from Samjhana Lawati. However, in the 75th minute of the second half, Sushma Limbu netted a corner kick from Manita Tamang for Meringden and tied the game. 

Both municipalities used the rules made by the organizers to sign four national and international players. In the trybreaker, Phungling's Samiksha Magar's goal was saved by Meringden's goalkeeper, but Neha Chaudhary, Samjhana Lawati, Sushila Chaudhary and Kumari Gurung scored.

Simran Rai, Jina Tamang and Anushka Sherpa managed to score for Meringden. But Manita Tamang and Sushma Limbu failed to score. Manita and Sushma's shots were wide. Meringden's goalkeeper Angela Tamang was named Man of the Match on Saturday.  

Anushka Sherpa became the top scorer during the competition. She scored five goals throughout the match. Best defender was Manita Tamang from Meringden, best goalkeeper was Sushila Chaudhary from Phungling, midfielder was Pavitra Limbu from Phungling, forward was Samiksha Magar from Phungling, best player was Simran Rai from Meringden, emerging player was Pramila Sherpa from Maiwakhola and best coach was Abhay Limbu from Phungling. They received a cash prize of Rs 8,000 along with medals and trophies. 

Eight out of nine municipalities in the district participated in the competition, which was held since 13 on the occasion of Chasok Tangnam Festival 2082.
