Ramcharitra Mehta, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, has assumed the post of Member Secretary of the National Sports Council. The Ministry of Youth and Sports has given the responsibility to Joint Secretary Mehta for the vacant position of Member Secretary for a week until further arrangements are made.

The responsibility has been given as per the decision of the ministry on 16 Mangsir until further notice as per Sub-section 12 of Section 17 of the Sports Development Act 2077. The post of Member Secretary was vacant after Tankalal Ghising completed his four-year term on 12 Mangsir.

While taking charge of the council, Member Secretary Mehta instructed the employees to perform their work in accordance with the law in a good governance and transparent manner. He also said that he would do exemplary work in the council as long as he remains in office.

Council Executive Committee Member Kamal Bahadur Bhattarai and Employees Association President Saraswati KC had discussed that the 10th National Sports and Organizational Structure and Management Survey were among the main responsibilities.

Mehta was welcomed by Executive Committee Member Kamal Bhattarai, Bhan Bahadur Chand, members, department and branch heads of the council and employees on Friday.
