National Jagriti Gachhia advances to semifinals of Gold Cup after defeating Damak Football Academy

The National Awakening Club has become the last team to enter the semi-finals of the first Gachhiya Gold Cup International Invitational Football Tournament.

 

Rastriya Jagriti secured a place in the semi-finals by defeating Damak Football Academy of Jhapa by a 2-0 margin in the last quarter-final match held at the Gachhiya Bazaar Sports Ground in Sundarharaicha, Morang on Thursday. 

Pravesh Basnet and Yogendra Karki scored goals in Rastriya Jagriti's victory. Pravesh's goal in the 11th minute of the game led Jagriti, but Yogendra doubled the lead in the 39th minute to give the team the victory. Yogendra was declared the player of the match and won Rs 5,100 in cash. 

The semi-final equation of the Gold Cup has also been completed with Thursday's match. The first semi-final match on Friday will be played between Sahalesh Football Club of Siraha and Gaighat United. 

In the second and final semi-final on Saturday, the host Gachhiya Yuva Samaj will face Rastriya Jagriti. The winner of the final match to be held on Mangsir 22 will receive a cash prize of Rs 201,000 and the runner-up will receive Rs 101,000.
