The 31st Inter-Secondary School IGP Football Running Trophy Competition began on Wednesday. The competition, which was held at the Nepal Police School in Sanga, Kavre, was inaugurated by Additional Inspector General of Police Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, Chief of the Administration Department of the Nepal Police Headquarters and Chairman of the School Management Committee.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Inspector General Shrestha said that the school has been conducting educational activities by prioritizing extracurricular activities and sports activities. He said that such competitions are not only sports programs but also an important platform to demonstrate the discipline, team spirit, leadership ability and sportsmanship of the students as a whole. He believes that such programs will highlight the talent, ability and confidence of the students.
The inaugural match between the Nepal Police School Sanga (Red) team and Peace Point School Baneshwor under the competition ended in a draw of zero-zero. A total of 15 teams from 14 schools including the red and blue teams of Nepal Police School Sanga, Nepal Police Schools Dharan, Chitwan and Samakhusi, Sainik Residential Secondary School, Armed Police School and Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Kavre are participating in the competition.
The winning teams will receive trophies, cash prizes, medals and certificates. The first, second and third placed teams will win 60 thousand, 40 thousand and 20 thousand rupees respectively. In addition, the organizer has stated that special awards will be given to the best players in individual categories.
