Palpa Volleyball Association has made a winning start in the inaugural match of the club-level invitational volleyball tournament held on Tuesday in Bhambak, Rampur, Rampur Municipality, Palpa.
Palpa defeated New Horizon Sports Club Rupandehi in a 3-0 set. They lost in sets of 25-21, 30-28 and 25-21. Resham Bik of Palpa was the Player of the Match in the opening match.
The tournament, which was played on a league-cum-knock-out basis, was inaugurated by Lumbini Provincial Assembly member Raju Shrestha. The tournament, organized for the second time by Bhambak United Youth Club in Rampur, has 7 teams participating. The tournament will run until Mangsir 20.
District Volleyball Association Palpa, Armed Police Force (APF) Kaski Pokhara, organizers Bhambak United Youth Club, District Volleyball Association Nawalpur, Horizon Volleyball Club Rupandehi, Shuklagandaki Volleyball Club Tanahun, Manimukunda Volleyball Club, Rupandehi and District Volleyball Association Syangja have participated in the tournament, informed Sports Coordinator Anup Malla.
The first place winner in the competition organized by Bhambak United Youth Club under the patronage of Rampur Municipality will receive a cash prize of Rs 200,000. The second place winner will receive Rs 100,000, the third place winner will receive Rs 50,000, and the consolation prize of Rs 30,000, medals, trophies, and certificates.
The best player will receive Rs 10,000 in cash. The best spiker, libero, setter, server, and mid blocker will receive Rs 5,000 each, said club president Balkrishna Kumal.
The competition was organized in coordination with the District Volleyball Association, Rampur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Municipal Sports Development Committee.
