Phungling Municipality has entered the semi-finals of the Kanchenjunga Seselung Women's Gold Cup Football Tournament by defeating Phaktanglung Rural Municipality by a 3-0 goal margin. The municipality, which defeated Phaktanglung in the third quarter-final match on Monday, has secured a meeting with Maiwakhola Rural Municipality.
Samjhana Lawati opened the scoring for the municipality at the start of the second half. Samjhana converted a corner kick by team captain Anusa Thebe in the 45th minute of the game.
Four minutes later, in the 49th minute, Sujata Limbu scored the second goal using Samjhana's pass. The municipality, which showed an aggressive presence after the second half, scored the third goal in the 54th minute. The third goal was scored by Samjhana Magar. Samjhana of Phungling was named the Player of the Match of the tournament. She received a cash prize of 5,000.
The last quarterfinal match on Tuesday will be between Sidingwa and Meringden Rural Municipality. The winner of the competition will receive 202,000 along with a trophy, and the runner-up will receive 102,000 and a trophy.
The Man of the Match will receive 5,000, all the best players in each category will receive 8,000, and the best player will receive 10,000. The final of the competition, organized by the Kanchenjunga Phungling Club and Ngawarak Sangjambo Phungling on the occasion of Chasok Tangnam, will be held on Mangsir 20.
