Prem Bahadur Limbu of Nepal Police Club has won a gold medal at the 13th Korean Ambassador International Taekwondo Championship. Prem, a bronze medalist at the 13th SAG, won the gold medal in the men's under-40 individual poomsae.
Tribhuvan Army Club's Rejin Rimal came second and Alpha Taekwondo Dojang Dang's Damodar Sharma won bronze. In the same age group, APF Club's Pratibha Vista won gold, beating Army's Sabina Bhattarai in the women's single poomsae.
In the individual poomsae category, Sunsari's Chandrama Dojang won gold. Balaju Dojang's Rawal Pandit came second, Swayambhu Dojang's Roj Kumar Tamang and Swastik Dojang's Suman Tamang won bronze.
The tournament, which will be held at the Nepal Taekwondo Association hall in Satdobato, Lalitpur until November 20, was jointly inaugurated by former Sports Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha and South Korean Ambassador to Nepal Park Tae Yong.
The Korean Embassy had provided various sports equipment for taekwondo to the Nepal Taekwondo Association, and Ambassador Yong handed over the equipment to the association's president, Deepraj Gurung.
1,530 players from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan, including Nepal, are participating in all three disciplines of the championship.
