Kanchenjunga Seselung Women's Gold Cup: Pathibhara Yangwarak advances to semifinals

Pathibhara Yangwarak Rural Municipality has entered the semi-finals of the Kanchanjunga Seselung Gold Cup Women's Football Tournament after defeating Aathrai Triveni Rural Municipality 3-1 in a trybreaker. This is the second rural municipality to reach the semi-finals.

The match, which was held at Bhanujan Secondary School on Sunday, went to a trybreaker after both teams scored one goal each. Ambika Lawati, Smarika Shrestha and Anupama Rai scored consecutive goals for Pathibhara Yangwarak in the trybreaker. 

Kumari Sherpa and Priti Gurung scored for Aathrai Triveni but Pathibhara Yangwarak's goalkeeper Sandila Rai blocked the goal, while Ongmu Sherpa's shot went off the post. Only Jenisa Limbu managed to score. Pathibhara's goalkeeper Sandila was named the Man of the Match. She received Rs 2,000 in cash. 

Earlier, Priti Gurung had opened the scoring for Aathrai Triveni in the 15th minute of the first half. Two minutes later, Ambika Lawati's free kick from the center directly into the goal post in the 17th minute turned into a goal and the game returned to a draw. 

In the third day of the tournament, in which eight out of the nine municipalities of Taplejung are participating, Phungling Municipality and Phaktanglung Rural Municipality will face off on Monday. 

A municipal-level women's football tournament has been organized on the occasion of Chasok Tangnam 2082. The winner of the tournament, which will be held on the 20th, will receive 202,000 rupees and the runner-up will receive 102,000 rupees.
