Five Nepali boxers are set to participate in the Men's World Boxing Championships to be held in the UAE from December 3 to 14.
The Nepali boxing team has left for the championship on Saturday. The team consists of 5 players and three coaches.
The players include Lal Prasad Upreti of the 48 kg weight group, Phunglang Kambang of 51 kg, Chandra Bahadur Thapa of 54 kg, Khagendra Roka Magar of 60 kg and Deepak Shrestha of 80 kg.
The coaches are Prakash Thapa Magar, Deepak Maharjan and Sujit Thapa Magar.
600 players from 120 countries will participate in the competition to be held in Dubai. They will compete in 13 weight groups. The IBA has increased the prize money this time and the winner will receive $300,000, the second place winner will receive $175,000, and the third place winner will receive $75,000. Similarly, the Nepal Boxing Association has stated that the fourth and fifth place winners will receive $10,000 each.
