Nepal to play Malaysia in semi-finals

Nepal to play Malaysia in semi-finals

Nepal reached the semi-finals of the ACC U-19 Premier Cup cricket tournament on Thursday, helped by a century partnership between captain Ashok Dhami and Darsh Sunar. Nepal defeated Hong Kong by 119 runs in the ongoing tournament in the UAE.

Nepal, who won the toss and elected to bat, scored 270 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs at the Seven Districts Ground 2 in Ajman, Hong Kong. In reply, Hong Kong was all out for 151 runs in 40.5 overs. 

Nepal won this match and reached the semi-finals as the winners of Group 'A'. Nepal had defeated Saudi Arabia by 8 wickets on Monday. Nepal will play Malaysia in the semi-finals. Malaysia defeated Singapore, Thailand and Iran to become the winners of Group 'D'. The other semi-final will be between UAE and Oman. Both semi-finals will be held on Saturday. 

For Nepal, Aparajit Poudel took 4 wickets and Ashok took 3 wickets. Aparajit took 31 runs in 10 overs with 2 maidens and Ashok took 29 runs in 10 overs with 2 maidens. Dayanand Mandal, Sushil Bahadur Rawal and Roshan Bishwakarma took 1 wicket each. Hong Kong captain Shiva Mathur scored the highest score of 30 runs. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes in 29 balls. Opener Jude Lee scored 22 runs with 3 fours in 26 balls, Reyans Sharma 18, Abdul Samad Khan 19 and Arez Dar scored 15 runs. 

Nepal added 68 runs in the last 5 overs thanks to the efforts of Ashok and Darshak. The two shared a partnership of 108 runs for the seventh wicket. Player of the Match Ashok was dismissed on the last ball of the innings for 73 runs. He hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in 51 balls. Darsh scored an unbeaten 45 runs in 58 balls. He hit 3 fours. Openers Neeraj Kumar Yadav and Vansh Chhetri were dismissed for 22 runs. Neeraj hit 3 fours in 20 balls and Vansh hit 2 fours in 34 balls. Nischal Chhetri was dismissed for 3 runs. 

Sibrin Shrestha scored 25 runs with 1 four in 59 balls. Dilsad Ali scored 32 runs in 50 balls. After Rohan Bishwakarma was dismissed for 22 runs off 21 balls, including 2 fours and 1 six, Ashok and the visitors batted together. Hong Kong's Abhimanyu Ganesan and Daniel Map took 2 wickets each.
