National Sports Council (NSC) Member-Secretary Tankalal Ghising held a farewell meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki on Friday.
Member-Secretary Ghising, who was appointed on Mangsir 13, 2078 BS, left the council on Friday after completing his four-year term.
Prime Minister Karki, who is also the patron of the council, expressed appreciation for Ghising's contribution to Nepali sports during his tenure.
Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta, Chief Secretary Suman Raj Aryal and others were present at the meeting held at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office, Singha Durbar.
Earlier, a farewell program was held for the member-secretary at the council covered hall. Along with the member-secretary, NSC board members Anjan Dhamala, Bina Shrestha, Dipendra Bista, Janak Bartaula, Mohammad Fazil and Prakash Kumar Kusari were also bid farewell.
Kits were also distributed to players and coaches in Mission-2026. Member-Secretary Ghising was presented with a letter of appreciation by the NSC Employees' Association, Nepal National and International Players' Association and the National Sports Association, among others. The member-secretary bid farewell after receiving a certificate of appreciation from Vaikuntha Manandhar, the only Nepali athlete to have played in the Olympics four times.
Member-secretary Ghising thanked all the players, coaches, and staff for helping him achieve unprecedented success during his four-year tenure.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports also bid farewell to Member-secretary Ghising on Friday. Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta, who is also the chairman of the NSC, and Secretary Hari Prasad Lamsal bid farewell to Ghising by presenting him with a token of love. Member-secretary Ghising handed over the report of his four-year tenure and books published by the NSC.
