The title winner of the football tournament organized with the aim of promoting the Fangfangden Waterfall, Cardamom and Homestay in Temba, Mikwakhola Rural Municipality-4, Sanwa, has received 126 kg of cardamom as a prize. The organizers had earlier announced that the title winner, runner-up and category award winners would be given cardamom prizes.
On the day of the final match, the prize was awarded in three sacks of cardamom, valued at Rs 2,400 per kilo on Thursday. The players who played football all day returned carrying the prize sacks on their backs.
The first prize was Rs 3,02,082. Similarly, the runner-up received 63 kg of cardamom. The runner-up team was awarded Rs 1,50,082 worth of cardamom. The runner-up was awarded 2 sacks of cardamom.
The title of the club-level men's football tournament was won by Ganesh Chowk Corner Team Panchthar. In the final held on Thursday, Ganesh Chowk won the title by defeating Himali Tokpegola Youth Club Taplejung by a 1-0 goal margin. The only goal scored by Nirosh Lingden of Ganesh Chowk was decisive in winning the title. A fair has been organized here since last year to promote the waterfall, cardamom, and homestay here.
Local Tek Bahadur Sanwa sponsored the first prize cardamom for this year's title winner. The fair, which began on November 20 with the aim of promoting local products and tourism, ended on Thursday.
