Prabir KC of Mathrubhumi School has won the HCA Youth Cup Blitz Chess title. He won the trophy by collecting 6 points in the seven-round competition.
In the one-day tournament organized by the Himalayan Chess Academy, Australia's Leo Smerdon came second, Satwikman Tuladhar came third and Aarav Poudel came fourth. The rankings were determined on the basis of tiebreak after Leo, Satwik and Aarav scored 5.5 points each.
Leo defeated Praveer in the fourth round. However, in the sixth round, he lost to Nihana Shrestha and tied with Satwik in the final round. He fell behind Praveer in the title race. Anmol Rai, Nihana Shrestha and Sambhav Thulung, who also scored 5 points each, along with Aranya Tuladhar (4.5 points), Ariz Rai (4 points) and Divan Shrestha (4 points) made it to the top ten.
Felix Smerdon won the U-6 boys' competition and Ruthvi Singh won the girls' competition. Pratish Jha won the boys' competition and Saharsh Chhetri won the girls' competition. Aarav Shrestha won the U-10 boys' and Aahna Shah won the girls' category. Australian Grand Master David Smerdon and Himalayan Chess Academy founder Monalisa Khambu presented the trophy to the winning players.
