Olympian Santoshi Shrestha of Dhading and Army runner Rajan Rokaya won the second Garima Road Race on Saturday. The race was held over a distance of 10 kilometers.

Olympian Santoshi completed the distance in 34 minutes 54.4 seconds. Santoshi was the winner in the first edition as well. Nisha Majakoti of the Army came second in 35 minutes 15.3 seconds and Srijana Pandya of the Army came third in 36 minutes 21.3 seconds. Nirmala KC of the Army came fourth and Asha Rawat of the APF came fifth.

Rajan completed the distance in 29 minutes 12.12 seconds. The winner of the last edition, Mukesh Bahadur Pal of the Army, came second in 29 minutes 50.92 seconds. Sanjay Shrestha of the Army came third in 30 minutes 05.00 seconds. Ganesh Singh Rawat and Narendra Singh Rawat of the Army came fourth and fifth respectively.

The top 5 finishers in both categories received prizes of Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

In the Veteran Men's 5 km race organized by Garima Bikas Bank to celebrate its 19th anniversary, Dharma Maharjan came first, Abhinarayan Adhikari came second, Rewat Bahadur Dahal came third, Sanukaji Maharjan came fourth and Dev Maharjan came fifth.

In the Women's 45+ age group, Kalpana Maharjan, Maheshwori Thapa Rayamajhi, Savitra Bhandari, Gyani Maharjan and Sanu Awale came first to fifth respectively. The first place winner in the men's/women's categories won 30,000, the second 20,000, the third 14,000, the fourth 10,000 and the fifth 7,000.

In the Corporate category, Ishwar Budhathoki, Anup KC Karki Chhetri and Tej Bahadur Giri were the top three winners in the men's 5 km race. Rajina Dulal won in the women's category. The corporate winner also received cash prizes along with the veterans.

The winners were awarded by Assistant Rathi Dipendra Gurung, Garima Chairman Dilip Pratap Khand and others. All the races started from the bank's proposed central office premises in Baluwatar and ended there, said Rajan Khatri, president and race director of Athletics Parivar Nepal. 1,400 people participated in the race.
