Four Nepali athletes left for Auckland, New Zealand on Wednesday to participate in the first international invitational Wushu competition, 'Wusu Heroes', to be held in New Zealand.
The competition, to be held from November 22 to 23, will feature 2-2 male/female players. Vijay Sinjali, Pasang Sherpa, Nima Gharti Magar and Junu Syangbo Lama will compete. Vijay and Nima are South Asian Games (SAG) gold medalists. Both are members of the national team preparation under Mission-2026 being run by the National Sports Council.
The team was bid farewell by Nepal Wushu Federation Deputy Secretary General Rajiv Maharjan, Wushu's chief coach Fatta Bahadur Lama and others.
After the competition, all four players will remain in New Zealand for about two months of training, and the training will make the preparations for the 20th Asian Games more robust and systematic, Deputy Secretary General Maharjan said.
