More than 1,500 police personnel, including Nepal Police and Armed Police, have been mobilized for security during the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of Kathmandu Police Range, a police team has been deployed from the district with a security plan since Sunday night. ‘1,223 police personnel have been deployed for this program,’ SP Bhattarai said, ‘Investigation police, traffic, CCTV surveillance police and other necessary police have been mobilized.’

According to SP Bhattarai, 40 CCTVs were installed targeting the game in coordination with CAN. The police will also monitor it using drones.

The police said that only players and VIPs were allowed to enter through the main gate. Spectators watching the game will be allowed through the other three gates, informed SP Bhattarai. 245 police personnel have been mobilized for the inaugural game today, informed Armed Police Joint Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa. Kathmandu Gorkhaz will compete against the first edition winners Janakpur Bolts in the first match of the NPL today. The eight franchise teams participating in the competition will compete against each other, with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. Qualifier 1 will be held on Mangsir 23, Eliminator on Mangsir 24, and Qualifier 2 on Mangsir 25. The final will be held on Mangsir 27.
