Subash Shrestha and Ramu Tharu have become champions in the junior and senior categories of the one-day Glide Faced Skate Speed Championship.
On Saturday, Subash won the junior category and Ramu won the senior category in the competition held at UN Park in Lalitpur. In the competition jointly organized by the Nepal Skating and Skateboarding Association and Glide City, Anje Sherpa came second in the junior category and Subarna Adhikari came third. Bipin Magar came second and Aryan came third in the senior category. According to Satya Thapa, general secretary of the
association, 50-50 players participated in both categories in the open championship. The junior category competed on a 150-meter track and the senior category on a 250-meter track. The jury consisted of head coach Dilipraj Baral, national players Kripa Pant, Yogina Shrestha, Muskan Magar, and Prayas Khadka. The
winning players were awarded by former Sports Minister Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj, association president Achyut Khanal, and head coach Dilipraj Baral. Glide City operator Basant Pant presented the guests with a Mayo Chino.
Earlier, Nepal Olympic Committee Chairman Jeevan Ram Shrestha inaugurated the competition and said that skating has a bright future as it attracts children and the youth.
