The fifth Nepal Open International Taekwondo Competition organized by the International Martial Arts Academy began on Saturday at the Tribhuvan University Memorial Hall in Kirtipur.

The competition, inaugurated by Youth and Sports Minister Bablu Gupta, is being attended by 450 athletes from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Malaysia, said Rakesh Rai, chairman and competition director of the organizing academy.

The competition includes 56 events including Kyorgi and Poomsae.

After the finals of 32 events on the first day, Nepal is at the top with 21 gold medals. The competition will continue till Sunday.
