Lumbini Lions, a franchise team of Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket, has signed an agreement with Yango Nepal, a subsidiary of global technology company Yango, as its main sponsor.
The Lions will play their first match against Chitwan Rhinos on the fourth day of the NPL, which starts on Mangsir 1.
Welcoming Yango as the main sponsor, Lumbini Lions President Ishwar GC thanked the main sponsor for supporting the NPL. ‘We are very happy to welcome Yango, a company popular among the youth, as the main sponsor of our team. We feel that we share the same vision of excellence, innovation and access to the world,’ GC said in a statement by Lumbini Lions after the agreement. ‘We have chosen Yango as the best companion to roar at the national and international levels, carrying the passion, pride and potential of Nepali cricket.’
Yango Group is an international technology company headquartered in Dubai, UAE. It provides services like mobility, navigation, delivery, foodtech, etc., based on the needs of local communities using technologies developed from different parts of the world.
Lumbini Lions, led by Nepali national team captain Rohit Poudel, are currently training under the floodlights of the Extratech Oval ground in Tilottama. The team has appointed former Indian fast bowler Tinu Yohanan and former Indian all-rounder Robin Singh as mentors for this season.
Sumit in place of Vivek
The Lions have included batter Sumit Maharjan in the team in place of all-rounder Vivek Yadav, who has played for the Nepali national team. The Lions have stated that Sumit has been included as Vivek is unable to play due to injury. Former Nepal U-16 team captain Sumit played for Kathmandu Gorkhaz in the first season of NPL last year.
