Pubudu Dassanayake has been appointed as the head coach of Biratnagar Kings for Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket. Biratnagar Kings, which is in the news for signing some world stars, announced on Monday through social media that Pubudu has been appointed as the head coach.
Under Pubudu's coaching, Janakpur Bolts became the first edition of the NPL champion last year. Pubudu, who has been Nepal's coach for two terms, is currently the coach of the US national team. Under Pubudu's coaching, the US won all four matches of the World Cup League 2 series involving Nepal and the UAE last week and achieved a 'clean sweep'.
Biratnagar has also included former Sri Lankan fast bowler Dhammika Prasad in the team as a consulting coach. Dhammika was the bowling coach when Pubudu returned as Nepal's coach for the second time in 2022. Biratnagar played under the coaching of Ireland's Kevin O'Brien last year.
Biratnagar has already signed South Africa's Faf du Plessis and Merchant de Lange, New Zealand's Martin Guptill, Scotland's George Muncie and Australia's Sam Hazlett as foreign players.
Collaboration with Dolpo
Meanwhile, Biratnagar has made popular Nepali brand ‘Dolpo’ its official apparel partner. In collaboration with Biratnagar, Dolpo will provide the team with performance gear that will help them perform at their best on the field. The team expects the jerseys, training kits and other apparel to reflect the pride of Koshi Province and embody the spirit of Nepali excellence.
