The Nepali judo team is set to leave for Tokyo, Japan, on Tuesday to participate in the Summer Deaflympics. Two athletes will participate in judo at the Deaflympics to be held from November 15 to 26.
Lucky Chaudhary will compete in the men's 60 kg and Sushma Tamang in the women's 52 kg. Judo will start from November 16.
The team is led by Dharma Kumar Shrestha, president of the Nepal Deaf and Blind Para-Judo Association, Rojina Shrestha as manager, and Sanjit Dangol as coach. Coach Dangol will leave for Japan only on November 14 due to grief at home.
National Sports Council (NSC) Vice-Chairman Dhruv Acharya bid farewell to the team on Monday. In addition to judo, Nepal will also participate in karate, athletics, taekwondo, badminton, and table tennis at the Deaflympics.
