APF Football Club reached the finals with a thrilling victory on Saturday in the LVD Jhapa Women's Gold Cup football tournament being held at the Dudhe Stadium in Shivasatakshi.

In the second semi-final, APF defeated departmental rival Tribhuvan Army Football Club 4-2 in a tiebreaker. APF will compete against another departmental team, Nepal Police Club, in the final on Monday.

Both teams came out on the offensive right from the start of the match. Both Army and APF kept creating pressure on each other's posts. In the 26th minute, APF's Saru Limbu's shot from outside the box went wide of the post. Then in the 29th minute, Army's Tulsa Bohara's cross was followed by a catchy header by forward Bimala Chaudhary.

APF captain Anita Basnet's corner kick was blocked by an Army defender in the 39th minute when Rashmikumari Ghising's volley was blocked by an Army defender. A minute later, Army launched a counter-attack, but Tulsa's Anjana Rana Magar failed to score a one-on-one opportunity. The game continued at an even pace in the second half as well. In the 58th minute, Rashmikumari's shot, which eluded two defenders, was saved by Army goalkeeper Kopila Khadka.

However, Army took the lead in the 63rd minute. When the coordination between defender Nisha Thokar and goalkeeper Anjana Rana broke down, Chandra Bhandari scored an easy goal to give Army the lead. In the 81st minute, Rashmikumari's header missed the post on APF captain Anita Basnet's cross. However, the game took a dramatic turn in injury time. After a 'handball' from Army's Bimala Chaudhary, APF was awarded a free kick from about 25 yards away. Captain Anita's excellent free kick converted into a goal, and the game was tied 1-1.

After the regular time was tied, the game was decided by a tiebreaker. APF's Savita Rana, Anita Basnet, Nisha Thokar and Rashmikumari scored in the tiebreaker, while goalkeeper Kopila Khadka stopped Renuka Hamal's shot. Only Bimala Bik and Anita Lamjel could score from Army. Bimala Chaudhary and Sushmita Chaudhari's shots were saved by APF's Anjana Rana Magar. APF's goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar, who performed exceptionally, was declared the Player of the Match.
