Nepali professional tennis player Abhishek Bastola has made a winning start at the UTR Pro Bengaluru Tennis Tournament, which began on Sunday in Bengaluru, India.

In the tournament held at the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy, Abhishek defeated American player Vikramjit Chawla in straight sets. He lost 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).

He is the only player from Nepal to play in the Bengaluru tennis tournament with a prize money of 20 thousand US dollars. Abhishek has participated in 13 UTR Pro tennis tournaments since 2021. More than 3,000 top players in the world play the UTR Pro Series.

Abhishek will compete in the round robin tournament that will last until November 15. Abhishek will now play his opponent from host India, Parth Agarwal, in the next round.
