Real Sociedad held Elche to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night thanks to a late penalty from Miguel Ayerzabal.

Elche took the lead in the match at the Manuel Martinez Valero in the 57th minute through Alvaro Rodriguez.

As the home team was heading for victory, Sociedad were awarded a penalty in the 89th minute, which Ayarzabal easily converted. The result leaves Elche in ninth place with 15 points from 12 games.

Sociedad, on the other hand, are struggling with 13 points from the same 12 games and are in 14th place. That is just four points away from the relegation zone.
