Sagarmatha Swimming Club of Lalitpur has won the title of the second Nepalgunj National Swimming Championship 2025.

Sagarmatha Club won the title by scoring 272 points in the competition organized by Nepalgunj Swimming Club Banke. Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Prashant Bista, Nepal Swimming Association Central President Jagatman Shrestha and Banke Police Chief Angur GC handed over the first trophy.

According to the technical chief of the competition, Bishnu Khadka Chhetri, Lalitpur's James School came second with 135 points in 56 swimming events. Banke Kohalpur's Shikha Academy came third with 52 points. Similarly, Little Angels School Lalitpur scored 46, Adarsha Secondary School Nepalgunj scored 35, Koshi Pradesh scored 20, Kathmandu's Uniglobe School scored 11, Springdale School Nepalgunj scored 10, Rai School Kathmandu scored 9, Nepalgunj Swimming Club Banke scored 8 and Bageshwori Academy Kohalpur scored 4 points, Chhetri informed.

In this victory, Arek Karmacharya of the club alone won 7 gold medals and Riza Awale won 5 medals. Karmacharya was awarded as the best player in the men's category of the competition and Awale was awarded as the best player in the women's category. They were each awarded Rs. 5,000.

Keshav Raj Neupane, President of the organizer Nepalgunj Swimming Club, Banke, said that since the club was able to successfully complete the national competition in a grand manner within a short period of its establishment, it has gained the energy to organize international level swimming competitions in the coming days.

Jagatman Shrestha, Central President of the Nepal Swimming Association, also said that they will work with the Nepalgunj Swimming Club to develop swimming in this area.

150 players from all over the country participated in the competition. The swimming pool in the Nepalgunj Stadium premises will be free for the medal-winning players of the championship.

During a discussion between the office bearers and members of the Nepal Swimming Association and Nepalgunj Swimming Club, Mahesh Chand, the head of the Midwest Sports Development Committee, announced that medal-winning athletes will be allowed to use the pool free of charge for the development of swimming in the region.
