Janasewa Youth Club of Chandannath Municipality-6 has won the district-level football title in Jumla.
Janasewa won the title by defeating the host Chandannath Youth Club in a penalty shootout. Both teams failed to score a goal throughout the match held at the Nepal Army's Tundikhel Ground. Football was played through a penalty shootout when both teams were tied.
In the semi-finals, Chandannath-3 defeated Foikali and Janasewa defeated Ghogesim Youth Club to enter the final. The winner Janasewa received a prize of Rs 101,000, a medal, a certificate and a trophy. Chandannath became the runner-up by receiving Rs 50,500, a medal and a certificate, the organizers said.
44 teams participated in the competition.
Ratan Bahadur Buddhapa, ward chairman of the host Chandannath-3, said that 700 players had entered the sports field. He said, "The players' attraction towards football was strong." The craze of the audience seemed even more enticing.'
Tournament coordinator Raj Bahadur Khatri informed that the final match was held among thousands of spectators.
