Record medal-winning karate player Erica Gurung was honored on Saturday. Neeraj Maharjan, head coach of Manmainju Dojo, who lives in Canada, personally honored Erica.

Erica was honored with a certificate of appreciation along with Rs 50,000 as a token of encouragement for winning the gold medal in the WKF Karate Series One held in Malaysia. Erica is also the first Nepali athlete to win a medal in the WKF Series One. Manmainju Dojo President and Coordinator Bikash Rajbahak and others were present at the event.

Erica will participate in the World Karate Championship to be held in Egypt at the end of November. She has confirmed her trip to Egypt under the universality quota. Single kata player Sanumaya Thing will also play in the World Championship with her.
