A football campaign for schools has been launched in Jumla to take football to the school level. The football campaign for schools has been launched by giving strength to community and private schools in the district.

District Football Association Jumla President Bharat Bahadur Budthapa said that 625 balls have been distributed to 26 community and private schools in the district.

The balls were handed over by gathering students and teachers at the Tundikhel ground. The All Nepal Football Association provided the balls to the schools through the District Football Association. ANFA President Pankaj Bikram Nembang said that this campaign will increase the attraction of football even in remote settlements.

The football campaign for schools has been launched to protect children from addiction, maintain social unity and establish harmonious relations through sports. President Nembang said that there is a program to distribute balls to 1,750 schools in the country. According to him, 65 schools in Karnali will receive balls. Out of them, the highest number of schools have been selected in Jumla.

‘Now the football craze has reached the villages,’ he said, ‘Now this program has been started with the aim of producing players from the villages and taking them to the cities.’

There are a total of 180 schools in Jumla. This time, 26 schools from Tila, Tatopani, Chandannath, Guthichaur and Patarasi rural municipalities have been selected. 25 have been given to secondary schools, 10 to 15 to secondary schools and 5 to 7 to basic schools.

The balls have been distributed based on the sports field, the students' passion for football and the school's interest in football. District Football Association Jumla President Budh Thapa said that the balls worth Rs 5,500 were provided free of cost. 'We have repeatedly urged the local government to allocate budget for football development,' said President Budh Thapa, 'All local governments have appeared indifferent to the development of the sports sector.' He stressed the need to prepare a concrete plan for sports infrastructure and manage the budget.

Football players from Jumla said that due to the lack of fields, the games could not be practiced as expected. Despite the increased attraction towards football, the players are saddened by the lack of infrastructure.

ANFA's grassroots head coach Pankaj Shahi said that the sports sector will help in the development of the community as well as the development of good citizens. Karnali Provincial Assembly member Debendra Bahadur Shahi, District Coordination Committee Chief Gaurinanda Acharya, Municipal Deputy Mayor Ramudevi Khadka and other individuals also expressed their commitment to work together for the development of football.
