Netherlands opening batsman Max O'Dowd will play for Karnali Yaks in the second season of the NPL. Karnali director Grihendra Ghimire has informed that the experienced Dutch batsman has been signed.

‘We have signed Max from the associate nation Netherlands with a plan to strengthen the opening batting pair,’ said Director Ghimire, ‘He is well acquainted with the Tribhuvan University ground and Nepal. That will definitely benefit us.’

31-year-old O’Dowd has played 87 Twenty20 International matches for the Netherlands. In those, he has scored 2,309 runs. He has scored 16 half-centuries, including a century.

In 2021, Max scored a career-high 133 runs against Malaysia in 73 balls at the Kirtipur ground. Last year, he scored an unbeaten 54 against Nepal in the Twenty20 World Cup in Dallas, USA. He has scored 2,153 runs in 65 ODIs for the Netherlands.

Earlier, Karnali had signed Scottish spinner Mark Watt and Australian William Bosisto as the second overseas player. Bosisto was with Karnali last season, while Watt and O'Dowd are playing in the NPL for the first time.
