The eighth edition of the Tarun Gold Cup has begun. Kummayak has emerged victorious in the first day's match, which began on Monday in Phidim, the district headquarters of Panchthar.
In the opening match of the tournament that started at the Phidim Secondary School playground, Kummayak won by defeating Falelung Rural Municipality in a sudden death.
Falgunanda, who had been leading by scoring 2 goals against Kummayak before half-time, was held to a draw after Kummayak scored a goal after half-time. After that, both teams failed to score in the extra time, Kummayak won the game in a sudden death.
Similarly, in the second match, Falgunanda Rural Municipality was given a walkover after the opponent Yangwarak Rural Municipality was absent.
The competition will be contested between Hilihang and Tumwewa and Phidim Municipality and Miklajung Rural Municipality on Tuesday.
Eight teams, including one municipality and seven rural municipalities, are participating in the competition. The final of the competition will be held on Kartik 13, according to the organizer Nepal Tarun Dal Panchthar.
The winner of the competition will receive Rs 1 lakh 173 and the runner-up will receive Rs 50 thousand 173 in cash along with a trophy, medal and certificate.
The competition was organized on the occasion of the 73rd founding day of Nepal Tarun Dal. The competition was inaugurated by Constituent Assembly member Bhishma Raj Angdembe.
