There is a playground next to the small market on the hilltop at the end of the settlement. A volleyball court built on the same ground has been hosting competitions continuously for 48 years.

The volleyball tournament, which is held every year from the day of Bhaitika in Osagu Bazaar, the junction of Falgunanda Rural Municipality-6 and 7 in Panchthar, has been held since Asoj 2034 BS. Local Harkajung Kurumwang, who went to Lahore for the first time from here, started it by playing the basketball he brought when he returned home during the Dashain vacation. Soon after, other locals including Kurumwang started playing volleyball.

The tournament, which was initially started at the tole, village, ward and VDC levels, has been completed at the Eastern Development Region level. After the re-establishment of the state in 2073 BS, an inter-city level tournament has been organized here with the participation of volleyball teams from Jhapa, Ilam, Tehrathum, Taplejung to Sankhuwasabha. Among those who learned volleyball in this field, players including Rajendra Kurumwang, Bir Bahadur Kurumwang, Bal Bahadur Angdembe, Khadgakeshar Angdembe, Udaya Kurumwang and Mani Kurumwang have made their mark as provincial, regional and national players. According to former player Rajendra Kurumwang, initially, when volleyball competitions were organized here, a rooster was given as a prize. In the 2040s, a goat was given, in the 50s, a cup was given, in the 60s, a shield was given, and since 2070, cash has been given. For the past few years, the volleyball team that comes first here has received a prize of 133,000 and the second place team has received half of that.

The first prize is managed by Falgunanda Rural Municipality, while the management expenses for the second prize have been raised by sponsors. The organizer, Triveni Youth Club, has stated that various bodies, including the ward office, have been supporting the organization of the competition. Amar Angdembe, a member of the organizing committee, claims that this is the first and biggest volleyball tournament in the hilly districts of Koshi Province with the highest prize money and the highest number of spectators. ‘Teams are brought from local levels of different districts along with national and international level players. Good cash prizes are provided by managing spectators and players from Ilam, Taplejung and Tehrathum,’ he said.

This tournament also attracts a good crowd of spectators. The fenced field outside the court is packed with spectators, while some watch the competition from the nearby Kanla wall by climbing the road, stairs and trees. The volleyball tournament is being managed and organized by Triveni Youth Club. This year, 8 local level teams, including 5 from Panchthar and 1 each from Jhapa, Tehrathum and Taplejung, are participating in the tournament. This year, famous players including Roman Basnet, Lilaraj Dangi and left shortstop Rabin Gautam, who have earned fame in provincial volleyball from this team, have competed in the competition.
