Iran defeated Nepal to win the Tri-Nation Women's Cup on Friday. Iran became the champion after winning its second consecutive match in the tournament, which also included India. Iran defeated Nepal 3-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, India.
Earlier, Iran had defeated India 2-0 in the first match of the tournament. Iran won both matches without conceding a goal and was entitled to the title. Now, India and Nepal will play on Monday. Along with Iran, India is also a qualified team for the Women's Asia Cup.
After a goalless first half, Iran scored three goals in a span of ten minutes against Nepal. Sara Didar opened the scoring in the 49th minute. She also added a second goal in the 52nd minute. Sabnam scored the third goal in the 59th minute.
After that, Nepal tried to come back into the game, but it could not be decisive and Iran emerged victorious. This is Nepal's second meeting with Iran in international women's football. Nepal had won 3-0 against Iran in the Women's Gold Cup held in Bhubaneswar, India, in which Savitra Bhandari scored 2 goals.
