Pakistan put in a convincing performance with the bat on the first day of the second Test against South Africa on Monday. Batting first after winning the toss, Pakistan scored 259 runs for the loss of five wickets at the end of the first day's play in Rawalpindi.
Saud Shakeel and Salman Agha are playing for the home team with 42 and 10 runs respectively. Earlier, opener Abdullah Shafiq scored 57 runs for Pakistan. Similarly, captain San Masud played a brilliant innings of 87 runs. He faced 176 balls and hit two fours and three sixes.
Among the South African bowlers, Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer took two wickets each. Pakistan are leading the two-Test series 1-0. South Africa will need to win this Test if they want to level the series.
