The internal dispute within the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has taken a new turn on Sunday. Acting president Bir Bahadur Khadka has informed that he has suspended general secretary Kiran Rai. Both ANFA president Pankaj Nembang and general secretary Rai are currently in Saudi Arabia.
They have sung there for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) program. Khadka, who was the senior vice president in the absence of the president, has become the acting president. He informed Rai of the suspension in a letter written on Sunday, Kartik 2.
The letter reads, ‘Ignoring the mandate of the general assembly and the executive committee, acting against the statute, rules and procedures, and having a long-term impact on the development of football, on what basis and under whose instructions?’ Since you have not received a response from you so far, the suspension has been implemented until the next executive committee meeting.’
According to the letter, this suspension will be effective from Sunday itself. There is currently a heated dispute in the ANFA executive committee and there are different factions. The dispute is set to escalate further after this decision of the senior vice president. Questions will also be raised about its legal validity.
