United Youth Club, Nawalpur, the winner of the second edition, has entered the finals of the YY 3rd Jyotipunj Cup National Football Tournament being held in Rampur, Palpa.
In the first semi-final on Saturday, United defeated Abhishek Church Football Club, Rajahar, Nawalpur 4-3 in a tiebreaker to enter the final. United and Abhishek Church played to a 1-1 draw in the regular time. United took the lead in the
match when Aaron Thapa scored in the 13th minute. In the 57th minute, Bikki Chaudhary scored for Abhishek Church to equalize the game. After no goals were scored in the extra time, United Youth turned the game around in the tiebreaker. United Youth goalkeeper Nishan Rana was named Player of the Match and received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000. Similarly, Red Bull Energetic Player of the Match, United Youth's Jabin Lamichhane, was declared the Player of the Match and received a gift hamper.
The second semi-final match of the competition on Sunday will be played between the organizer Jyotipunj Youth Club, Rampur Palpa and Devdaha Boys, Devdaha, Rupandehi, said the game coordinator Anil Shahi Thakuri.
The winner of the competition organized by Jyotipunj Youth Club, Rampur-7, Palpa with the aim of building a stadium will receive a cash prize of Rs 350,000, a trophy and a medal. The runner-up will receive a trophy and a medal along with Rs 200,000. The final match will be held on Kartik 3, said the president of Jyotipunj Youth Club, Sundar Rana.
