Nepal's national and international athletes and coaches will receive discounts on health services and treatment from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Bir Hospital.

The National Sports Council (NSC) and NAMS have collaborated with the aim of providing special services to players and coaches. On Thursday, NSC and NAMS signed an agreement to provide special services to national and international players and coaches as per their needs. The agreement was signed between NSC Member-Secretary Tanklal Ghising and NAMS Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Basnet.

This facility is being provided by appointing a liaison officer for the convenience of players and coaches. This agreement will be for 5 years and can be renewed later on agreement.

The collaboration has been made with a total of 11 conditions to further support the development of Nepali sports. NAMS will provide this facility to technicians working in sports as well as employees. They will receive health services under the supervision of skilled doctors with special preference.

Players will get concessions in various stages in the facilities provided by the laboratory during treatment. Olympian players will get the highest discount of 80 percent on all types of services at the hospital. Medal winners and national team players in the Asian and South Asian Games will get 60 percent discount, national and international players 50 percent, and NSC employees 40 percent discount. The academy will provide special services to players, coaches, and employees only after verification by the NSC liaison officer.

In addition to treatment, it has been agreed that NAMS will provide various programs related to health education, first aid, anti-doping, physiotherapy, and nutrition in sports competitions organized by NSC.

Member-Secretary Ghising expressed the belief that this collaboration will provide great encouragement to individuals involved in the development of Nepali sports. Ghising said that the collaboration with the oldest hospital in the health sector of Nepal and the National Academy of Medical Sciences was done with the aim of providing special encouragement to the training of the national team, including Mission-2026, run by NSC.

Although NSC has been spending some money on insurance and treatment for national team players and players injured during the competition, he believes that this collaboration will provide them with an environment to train with confidence. He said that this agreement covers a wider aspect of sports.

Vice-Chancellor of the National Academy of Medical Sciences Prof. Dr. Bhupendra Kumar Basnet said that this collaboration was made with the aim of encouraging sports and players that will make the country's identity. Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Ramcharitra Mehta, Director of the National Academy of Medical Sciences Dr. Dilip Sharma, Dr. Gyanendra Bikram Shah and Director of the National Team Preparation Committee Deepak Bista were present.
