Youth Raj Budha and Deepshikha Shahi won the title of Gaughat Green Run organized on Tuesday with the aim of spreading awareness about climate change at the local level.

Jumla's Yuvakraj and Banke Kohlpur's Deepshikha became the champions in Gaughat Green Run, which started last year as a sister event of Nepalgunj Marathon.

Arvind Kumar Yadav of Narainapur came second and Yamraj Khatri of Jumla came third in the 5 km open men's race held in Sitapur of Khajura.

Deepshikha of Kohalpur was the winner in the open women's 2.5 km, while Swastika Shahi of Kohalpur was second and Radha Sunar of Bardia was third.

In Khajurahalika level 5km for students, Dhaniram Khatik of Gyanodaya High School, Nikesh Khatri of Janata Umawi and Yusuf Bik of Amarmawi and Vinisha LJ of Amarmawi for girls in 2.5km, Pratish BC of Yogini Mawika and Vinita Pulami of Amarmawi won the top three positions.

The winning players were awarded by the President of Khajura Rural Municipality Dumbar Bik, Member Secretary of Lumbini Pradesh Sports Council Tiran Gautam, Miss Nepal World 2023 Shruchcha Pradhan and others.

Nepalgunj Marathon's Goodwill Ambassador Miss Nepal Shruchha said that nature should be regarded as the first teacher and that human existence can be saved only if everyone can protect nature together.

Only on Monday, Srichcha and Commonwealth Games 2010 gold medalist John from Kenya was appointed as the goodwill ambassador of Nepalgunj Marathon. The 11th edition of Nepalgunj Marathon will be held on November 6.
