Two boxers from Nepal are going to compete in the World Boxing Championship to be held in Brisbane, Australia. Boxers Umang Khatri and Ajit Magar will compete for the championship to be held from October 15 to 19.
Nepal Professional Boxing Commission (NPBC) President Rajan Vikram Prajapati bid farewell to both players. Prajapati informed that Nepali boxers are competing in professional boxing not only in South Asian countries but also in America, Europe and Australia.
Chairman of Lalitpur District Sports Committee Vinod Maharjan also bid farewell to the players and coaches with lunch. Umang from Lalitpur will compete in 51 kg and Ajith from Udaipur will compete in 67 kg weight group.
Chairman of Lalitpur District Boxing Association Omnarayan Shrestha and former president of the association and national player Gobind Dangol and others provided financial support for them. Max Basnet will be their coach. During their stay in Australia, Max Boxing Promotions Director Mukti Thapa and International Coordinator Vipin Karki will be responsible for the accommodation and management of the boxers.
General Secretary of NPBC Savin Karki said that after the championship, both players will undergo special training for two months in different clubs in Australia.
