What you should know

LG (Red), Devdah Bayaz and Khasyuli have entered the last eight from the four matches held on Monday as part of the first Laligurans Cup National U-19 National Football Tournament.

In the first match at Materi in Rampur, Chapakot United Football Club Syangja defeated Devdah Bayaz Rupandehi by 2-0 in a tri-breaker. Both groups could not score a goal in the scheduled time. In the second match, LG (Green) was defeated by Gorkha Bayaz Rupandehi 6-0. 

Chormara Football Club Nawalpur defeated Makwanpur 1-0 in the third match. Fourth  In the match, Axis Brothers Pokhara was defeated by Khasyuli Football Club Rupandehi by 3-2 goals in a tiebreaker. After both teams tied 1-1 at the scheduled time, they had to resort to a tie breaker as they could not score in extra time.

In the previous opening match, Laligurans Association (Red) defeated Youth Union 1-0 and entered the last eight. Sojit Roochal scored the decisive goal for Laliguras. 

President of Rampur City Sports Development Committee Kamal Sen, President of the organizing club Madhusudan Pokharel while inaugurating the competition said that Rampur will make an identity in the field of sports. He said that Pokharel is going to conduct a competition to encourage new talent.

The first team in the competition, which will be held until October 25, will get 2 lakh cash, trophy, certificate and medal.  Game coordinator Adesh Rana said that 15 groups from different districts including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Chitwan, Makwanpur and three groups from Rampur municipality through the organizing team participated in the

competition. The runner-up in the competition will get a shield, medal and certificate along with 1 lakh rupees in cash. According to the organizer, the group that reaches the semi-finals will be given 25,000 rupees in cash and a trophy.  In the

competition, the best players, defense, goalkeeper, forward, midfielder, local players, coaches and other categories will be honored with cash, trophies and certificates. The date of birth of the players has been kept up to 30th June 2063. The organizers have arranged accommodation and food for the team participating in the

competition. It is estimated that 2.5 lakhs will be spent for conducting the competition. 

Youth Union Materi is the co-organizer of the competition in Materi Bolotar of Rampur, Rampur Municipality is the sponsor and Laligurans Association Nepal, ANFA, Mardikhola United and Rampur JSIS are the partners, said Kamal Rana, the president of Youth Union Materi.

President of Rampur Nagar Sports Development Committee Kamal Sen said that the football tournament will encourage new players and help in the production of players. There will be three matches on Tuesday as part of the tournament.
