Nepali swimmer Atharva Singh has set 2 new national records in the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship on Monday.

In the ongoing competition in Ahmedabad, India, Atharva completed the men's 1500m freestyle in 17 minutes 43.57 seconds, breaking the record of 18 minutes 45.62 seconds set by Shirish Gurung 10 years ago. Kalkin Shrestha from Nepal also surpassed Shirish's record in the same competition. According to Shankar Karki, the swimming head coach, Culkin completed the prescribed distance in 18 minutes and 11.11 seconds.

Atharva set another record in the 400m individual medley. In this event too, Atharva broke the record of 5 minutes 04.70 seconds set by Shirish himself in 2016. While setting the national record, Atharva clocked 4 minutes 58.34 seconds.
