In the second Pumdi-Bhumdi mountain race competition, Narendra Singh Rawat of Far West has won the title. He completed the 8 km distance in 35 minutes and 44 seconds and received 50,000 rupees.

In the competition held on Saturday in Pokhara, Karan Rawal of Far West became second while Dal Bahadur Kunwar of Karnali came third. Karan covered the distance in 36 minutes and 33 seconds and Dal Bahadur in 37 minutes and 16 seconds. They received 30 thousand and 15 thousand rupees respectively.

Gautam Shrestha came fourth and got 7 thousand rupees, Saphal Lama came fifth and got 3 thousand rupees. Pancharam Budha, Buddhiram Gurung, Jogendra Budha, Tenjon Roka Magar and Eamon Gurung each got Rs 1,000 from sixth to tenth. For foreign tourists, France's Theo Dunnet became the winner by crossing the distance in 49 minutes and 51 seconds. Kishor Thapa from Gandaki became the first for veterans. Both received Rs 15,000 each.

Kushal Pariyar became the first and Sujjal Pariyar came second in the Ward 22 level. They completed the distance in 49:15 and 51:03 minutes respectively. On the women's side, Padamkumari Sunuwar of Koshi completed the distance in 53:39 minutes while Neetu Tamang of Bagmati finished second in 57 minutes and 46 seconds. The first and second in the ward and women won 15,000 and 7,000 rupees respectively. In U-16, Prakash Thing (42:58) was first, Til Bahadur Periyar (38) was second and Kamal Paudel (49:56) managed to get third place. They are all from Gandaki. The first, second and third won 15,000, 7,000 and 3,000 respectively. In the competition, 82-year-old Leel Bahadur Gurung from Pumdi-Bhumdi was awarded for the senior category and 11-year-old Aaron Nepal was awarded for the junior category.

Pokhara Promotion Center and Pokhara Click jointly organized the competition where 167 runners from 8 countries, including Nepal, participated in the competition, said Dinnath Baral, the president of the center. Among the participants were runners from all seven provinces of Nepal, along with citizens of Britain, Norway, Israel, France, America, Spain and Canada. The race started from Vishwashanti Stupa, circumambulated the giant Mahadev statue of Pumdikot and reached Buddhapark in Kalabang Gharedi. At the

closing ceremony, world record runner Vasant Ghimire and Vishwashanti Stupa Committee Chairman Ashok Gurung were given special honors for Pokhara promotion. In Ghimire's absence, his son Shakti Ghimire accepted the honor. 

Last year this honor was given to Chandrakant Baral and Kusan Gurung.
