The 17th edition of Kathmandu Marathon is going to be held in the capital Kathmandu on 15th November. The organizer NRS Sports Foundation has informed in a press conference held in the capital on Thursday that more than 5,000 people will participate in the competition.

Nilendraraj Shrestha, chairman of the organizing foundation, informed that around 200 foreign athletes will participate this year. He said that the route of the marathon starting from Dashrath Ranshagala covering all three districts of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur has been decided. He claimed that Kathmandu Marathon is being organized as a festival of sports, health and unity. Siddharth Bank is the title sponsor of the
marathon. For that, Chairman Shrestha and Bank CMO Sureshraj Maharjan signed the agreement. CMO Maharjan said that the organization is happy to be able to support Nepali sports even if it is a little by joining a prestigious competition like Kathmandu Marathon.
Sunil Sharma, director of Nepal Tourism Board, said that nature, culture and adventure are the areas with tourism potential of Nepal and said that sports are now also connected to it. General Secretary of Nepal Athletics Association Sanjiv Tuladhar said that the marathon is an event that carries the identity of Nepal and said that it is happy for Nepali athletics that Kathmandu Marathon is held continuously.
Women's and men's marathon winners will get the same prize of Rs 1 lakh, second place 50 thousand and third place 25 thousand. Half marathon open women and men winners will get 50,000, second 25,000 and third 15,000. Similarly, the winner of 10 km will get 20,000, the second 10,000 and the third 5,000. For the marathon, over 40 years, over 50 years and over 50 years and half marathon over 40 years and over 50 years categories have been separated. The winners of the top three positions in the marathon will receive 10,000 and the top three winners of the half marathon will receive 5,000. There are also 10 km masters, 5 km open, 3 km open, 3 km school level and family run events.
