Defending champions Liverpool maintained their 100% winning start in the English Premier League on Saturday. This is the team's fifth win in a row. Liverpool beat Everton 2-1 in the Merseyside derby at Anfield.

After this win, Liverpool has a maximum of 15 points. The team is at the top. Everton was limited to 7 points and remained in seventh place. Liverpool are on course to win the league for the second consecutive season for the first time since the 1980s.

Liverpool scored both goals in the first half. After Ryan Gravenbach gave the team the lead in the 10th minute, Hugo Ekitike added the second goal in the 29th minute. 

Idris Gueye pulled a goal back for Everton in the 58th minute. Alexander Isaac made his league debut for Liverpool with this match. He left Newcastle United for a record fee and joined Liverpool. He entered the field as a substitute player. Everton's David Moyes has yet to win at Anfield as a coach. 

This was his 23rd visit to Liverpool's home team as manager. He has never won at Anfield for Manchester United, Sunderland and West Ham. 

Since 1934-03, Liverpool has beaten its neighbor Everton in five consecutive games for the first time. The last time Everton beat Liverpool at Anfield was in 2021, during the coronavirus pandemic.
